I was a little nervous purchasing the absolute lowest price laptop I could find (that still fit all my needs.) But so far this little beauty is working great. My old laptop was built in 2004 so it was severely outdated and just about anything out there would have been an upgrade.

It showed up promplty, works flawlessly, and everyone who sees it comments on how nice it is.

I am not a super heavy user, I don’t play games and only use it for spreadsheets, word processing, surfing the net, photos, etc. I do however manage several websites and so far running multiple programs at a time has not posed a problem. I have been very impressed.

I have it for a little over one year. I was happy with it until one night it got very hot and the computer shut down by itself. Because it just past the warranty time so I have to pay to get it fix. If you do not want to change the computer as frequent as every year, you should think again before you purchase laptop from Acer. I am sure they knew the problem, but they must think that $500 should not last too long. I will never buy another Acer computer again. Please tell everyone you know that this could happen to them if they buy an Acer computer

As soon as I put this Item into my wish list the price went up $100.00, I don’t know if Amazon has new business ethics but this action scared me so I purchased elsewhere.

Sign me once a long time customer.

At $[...] (recently $[...]), this laptop is fairly priced, but no longer a bargain. Note that it has a small 512KB L2 cache. There are lots of deals on entry level laptops, so shop around for the features you want. If you’re not in a hurry, wait 6 months and get more processing power for the same price. If you need one now, compare this to the HP Pavilion G42-240US and the Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5050, which are rated as good performers.

Also consider upgrading to the Acer AS5551-2805, available for a few dollars more. Don’t expect much tech support from Acer–their focus is on selling low cost computers.

A [...] subscription is well worth the price. They offer extensive ratings of desktops and laptops, along with suggested pricing.
