i got the laptop on the 29th of July, its the 7th of September now and the laptop’s still lying at the service center and they tell me they won’t replace it because its past the 1 month limit.
I had to give the laptop for service 1 week after getting it because it kept hanging. On running the apple hardware check it told me there was a problem with the GPU. They reinstalled the OS and gave it back to me. I insisted they check it properly and there was a problem with their logic board but they were not willing to accept it. I used it for another 2 days without a problem and then it started to crash every time the nvidia graphics card kicked in. i gave it back and now they’re telling me I’ll only get it back on the 18th of September because they don’t have spares.

    bottom line:
    1. They’ll have it for 1.5 months after me spending $2k on it.
    2. They’re not willing to exchange it.
    3. Their service center (in Bangalore) knows less than i do about their own product.

This mac is just what I need for going into my Graphic Design program. It is absolutely gorgeous and works like magic. It is a pristine piece of equipment that seems solid enough to last me through the rest of my college career. If you are wondering if it is worth it for the price all I can say is just get it. It is priceless for this generation. You will love it.

Purchased the 15″ macbook pro to replace an iMac that severla years old (still runs awesome, but I wanted a new toy). The Mac’s are pricey which would be the only complaint. I purchased it on a 12 month financing deal so that helped ease that pain.

The machine itself is awesome. I used migration assistant to migrate my files and settings and it worked flawlessly, painlessly and easily. The 15″ version is the perfect size for me. I tried a 13″ last year and it was too tiny; the 17″ too big. The performance for the week or so I have had it is wonderful. It shuts down so quickly – no waiting. So efficient.

I was amazed at how light the machine is. My husband has a 15″ windows based laptop and I expected it to be the same weight, but the macbook weighs about half his laptop.

Purchased the 15.4″ for myself and the 13.3″ for my wife who is starting graduate school in the fall. Bought her the IMac three years ago for Christmas and fell in love with OS X immediately. Everything just “works” so much better on a MAC in my opinion. I am a cybersecurity professional and work in the Windows environment all day on the job so OS X is a refreshing change.

    Pros: – FAST!
    – Excellent battery life, lots of RAM, large hard drive
    – Crystal clear screen (glare occasionally a problem)
    – Excellent keyboard

    Cons: – Expensive!
    – Hurts my wrists to type when resting flat (simply propping it at an angle solves this for me)
    – Runs hot to be on my lap for extended periods
    – Screen easily smudged when opening / closing
    – No way to only use integrated graphics card to save even more battery
