My granddaughters’ school desks accommodate binders no larger than 1″, so our choices were limited. One of the girls chose this one because it was different from any we’d had before. The other chose a more expensive, decorative, standard-style 3-ring binder. The Avery Flip-Back binder was much the better choice. I often see my granddaughter on her back, knees up, writing with the back flipped to form a comfortable work surface against her thighs. The other granddaughter is unable to balance her binder on anything short of a flat work surface. Even with a flat surface, the Flip-Back is far superior because it takes up half the space. I doubt this binder lasts longer than the run-of-the-mill styles, but it is certainly more convenient in the meantime. We won’t return to the standard 3-ring style.

AMENDMENT: 6 months down the line, the more expensive, decorative binder has bit the dust while the Avery Flip-Back binder remains in perfect condition. Now both girls have Flip-Back binders. You cannot go wrong with this one!
