Best pencil I’ve used in my short life. My mom bought these pre-sharpened ones and a pack of unsharpened Mirado Black Warrior pencils so we would have extras.
* Writes smoothly.
* Sharpens easily.
* Erases well, but I would advise using a Paper Mate Arrowhead pencil cap eraser to keep this round pencil from rolling off your desk.
* Pencil grips also work better on this pencil since the barrel is a little thicker than those regular hexagonal pencils.
Would definitely recommend. I’ll even donate some of these to my teacher.
I love these pencils. My daughter uses them everyday and they are very easy to sharpen. Great buy!! i am purchasing a second set right now and thought I’d share this feedback.
The Mirado’s are nice. The only problem is that they have a cylindrical body instead of the the hexagonal, thus they will instantly roll off of any inclined surface. Make them faceted and they’d be perfect.
I have been teaching for over 35 years and have used and seen a lot of pencil products. The Black Warrior is the BEST pencil I have ever used. I encourage my students to buy these, especially the pre-sharpened type. Many pencil companies should be ashamed of the inferior product they are offering. I cringe at the start of the school year when the kids return to the classroom with a handful of cheap pencils that do not sharpen or have leads that repeatedly break. You don’t find this with the Black Warrior. This pencil sharpens evenly and writes with a smooth lead. TEACHERS OF AMERICA, UNITE! Collect and return all the crummy pencils your kids come to school with. Buy a Black Warrior for every kid and use them to write product complaint letters to all the companies that sell ripoff pencils. A pencil is a basic school supply and should be a quality item because it is frequently used. Mirado’s Black Warrior is this product. It may cost a bit more than the mega-box of composite pencils, but the money is well spent.
These pencils were the only pencils at Staples that were made in the USA. They also were the only wood pencils that I’ve ever used that haven’t been crappy in the last 10 years. I do wish they made them in an angled version too, since the completely circular version tends to roll off tables. The cedar smell is fantastic, the wood is hard and you won’t spend half the pencil sharpening it like so many others. Worth it.
