Got this for K, as they don’t carry text books back and forth yet. We are now going into second grade and our school still does not send text books home. It holds folders, chapter books, her lunch box easily. We usually put a water bottle in the front pocket with her daily snack.
I wash it and dry it in my dryer and all the dirt comes out. I could see it being too small when they start to carry more than one text book home, but for $19.99 we got a lot of use out of it.Plus, it isn’t too babyish for a second grader and it worked for my horse lover when in K.

Got this and the lunch bag to match. My daughter loves the look of it and I love the quality and size. It has lots of pockets to fill. And can hold a lot of stuff- as we have filled it with all her school supplies. Great price and product.

My daughter is a horse lover, so I bought her this backpack for school last year. She was in fourth grade. For a younger child, this would be a good backpack. But, for anyone using it for school who is over 7 years old, it’s just not big enough! By the time my daughter put in her 3 ring binders and a book or two, it was really hard to get anything else in there. It’s not tall enough so it was very difficult for her to zip it. If not for the size, we both would have loved it and probably bought her a new one for this year.

My 2nd grader LOVES horses and loves this backpack! It is the perfect size for her, fits in her locker and is very durable. I am writing this review nearly a year after purchase and it is still in great condition despite being on the bus and jammed into a locker daily. Great buy and great product!

It was too bad was rated so high. I bought this and the polka dot packs for my daughters in 2nd and K. I should have noticed there were no side mesh pockets, which I consider a must for packets of tissue, chapstick, hand sanitizer or other small and daily needed items. There was also no ‘support’ or semi rigid surface on the section which sits against the child’s back — so my K daughter who only transports a paper folder to/from school ends up with bent folders! After purchasing packs at WalMart which barely made it through the school year – I was looking for pack which would last more than 1 year. I don’t know yet if they will last longer than the $11-$14 kind at discount stores. We’ll see — I don’t plan to purchase again since they’re smaller than a typical school backpack. I’ll go with Land’s end or LL Bean next time.
