Cary Academy announces free education for more families in 2026-2027 school year
1+ min ago (173+ words) A private school in Wake County announced that it would provide free education for more families moving forward. According to a release from Cary Academy, the school's "Charge Promise," which started in 2024 and is described as a groundbreaking affordability initiative, would cover the full cost of attendance for families earning less than $100,000 a year. The school also said families above the threshold would be provided "substantial, scalable support." The school said up to 96% of the cost of attendance would be covered by the initiative if they are above the threshold. The program is believed to be the most comprehensive of its kind among independent schools across the southeastern United States. "Access to an exceptional education shouldn't depend on a family's financial means," said Dr. Mike Ehrhardt, Head of School. "Charger Promise is a tangible expression of our strategic commitments to…...
Rochester Public Schools asserts no conflict of interest with the Minnesota Principals Academy
4+ min ago (578+ words) ROCHESTER " Following a recent news report, Rochester Public Schools has reiterated its stance that it does not believe there's a conflict of interest in its relationship with the Minnesota Principals Academy. The news story by KSTP reported that RPS spent $250,000 on the academy, which is run by the wife of RPS Superintendent Kent Pekel. RPS issued a statement on the situation on Thursday, Dec. 11. School administrators in RPS are bound by district-level code of ethics. Among other directives, the code says leaders should avoid "using positions for personal gain through political, social, religious, economic, or other influence." Administrators are also bound by standards of professional conduct that are outlined in Minnesota law. One of the directives is that "a school administrator must not accept gratuities, gifts, or favors that impair professional judgment, nor offer any favor, service, or item of…...
New weapon detection systems installed at Beaufort Co. high schools; Students adjust to new normal
13+ min ago (477+ words) BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - WTOC got an inside look at the new way the Beaufort County School District is trying to keep kids safe. The district installed weapon detection systems last week at the nine district high schools and says students are adapting to the change faster than expected, even if it has changed their morning routine. "They have stepped up, and they have taken their part in their role in making sure that our schools are just a little bit safer every day," Beaufort County Superintendent Dr. Frank Rodriguez said. Instead of just walking into school and going to class, students now must go through a weapon detection system. The process starts before students walk into school, when they are asked to check their backpacks for anything that could set off the devices. Then, when someone walks through the device,…...
There is so much beauty in life
17+ min ago (207+ words) The pressures of school, social media, and life can be overwhelming, but putting a full stop to life is not an acceptable solution. Using empathy and understanding can go a long way in supporting those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Sometimes all that someone need is someone to listen without judgement. Empathy and kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. Changing image of the teacher In most cases the students have mentioned their teachers for ending their life. It is often heard that there is always a lobby of teachers who time and again encourage only certain "good' students and don't give chance to others. They have to work and struggle with "new' students to the particular activity. Those who are not good performers face the brunt of the teachers. Students look up to teachers Counselling is a must!...

Trustees approved the merger in a unanimous vote Tuesday. "Our students cannot take another year of being on a campus that is not performing," Superintendent Karen Molinar said during a Nov. 18 meeting describing efforts across the district. Merging the Western Hills schools while leveraging a turnaround model allows for more staffing and dollars at the campus to boost academics for students, according to board documents....

Biannual boards, new formats, and new rules: Is 2025 CBSE's biggest overhaul yet?
23+ min ago (832+ words) The year 2025 became a turning point for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a year in which the country's largest school board rewrote its own rulebook. What was once a system defined by rote memorisation, one-shot board exams, and rigid subject silos is now evolving toward a modern model: flexible learning, digital innovation, and assessments that measure what students can actually do, not just what they can remember. From redesigned syllabi and tightened identity protocols to the historic rollout of twice-a-year board exams, CBSE spent 2025 dismantling long-standing norms and rebuilding the school experience for a new generation of learners. What emerged is not just a list of policy updates, but a bold reimagining of how India teaches, assesses, and prepares its students for the future. Below is a powerful, comprehensive review of the reforms that defined CBSE's transformation in…...
